Petit Troll Port au Prince was established in year 2000 and represents the foundation on which Project Haiti has developed. On its opening, the school only had 3 students and 5 local staff members. Through continuous growth, the school has today more than 100 students in the 1st – 6th grade, and 19 local staff members.
Petit Troll Port au Prince is today operating out of rented premises, but one of the long-term goals of Project Haiti is to build its own school capable of housing up to 300 students. The school follows the national curriculum, but through Project Haiti volunteers the students are also offered extra courses in subjects such as human rights, environmental issues, health, music and arts.
The students at Petit Troll Port au Prince receive books, school uniforms from Project Haiti, as well as a hot meal every day at school. In addition, Project Haiti also pays secondary school tuition fees for some of the school’s graduates, enabling them to continue their education.
